that little bum

the diaper ya’ll.  is it just me or are there so many options?  and before you leave the obvious comment, yes i know magnolia could hate the diaper we buy, they could break her out, they may not fit her, any of those things.  but, we’ve got to be prepared with something when she shows up…in ONLY four months can i add (how did that happen).  so we’ve felt, smelled (yes really), priced a few brands trying to see what we know-nothing parents think makes a winning diaper and we thought we’d share our finds.

the obvious online, pinterest, blog reviewed winner…that we don’t love.

the honest company

these are a good bit smaller than the other brands we’ve looked at, which may not end up being a big deal if she stays tiny.  they seem a little scratchy, richard + i both have pretty sensitive skin so that makes me a little nervous.  i know this brand is suppose to be a+ for sensitive skin, so i’m probably way wrong.  on the plus side, i LOVE the subscription service because why not put a little ease into something you have to do anyways.  and those prints, all the heart eyes!!!

the wipes seem pretty swell, they’re fragrance free and pretty quilt-ish.  richard isn’t a fan of the baby wipe smell (i know what’s wrong with him) so the fragrance free is a win for him.

the bundle price for the honest company is $79.75 per month.

includes (in the newborn size) : 320 diapers + 288 wipes

if needed you can order up to three extra items with your bundle for 25% off the regular price.

our next on the list is pampers

my sister uses pampers for teagan, and they’re highly recommended by lots of moms!!  once we bought a small pack we realized why, they’re so so soft.  they seem super absorbent, which can only equal amazing!! they have a wetness indicator which sounds like a great plan.  okay so the prints are nearly as fun, but at the end of the day i think that only matters to me.  pampers can be purchase everywhere, i mean probably from a gas station if needed.  amazon offers a subscription with a prime account, so i still get my easy life.

the wipes are also so soft, but that may not be a plus.  we’ve used huggies wipes with one of our fosters and the softness was a huge downfall, they ripped all the time.  they smell like a sweet little baby, which is a winner in my book but read above about my nuisance husband.

these can be bundled together through amazon for $46.93 per month.

includes (in the newborn size) : 128 diapers + 448 wipes

our most likely to win is parasol co

i stumbled across this brand on instagram, and boy am i glad i did.  these bad boys are so cute (because i think we’ve proven i think diapers should be cute).  but on top of that they’re softer than the pampers.  they past the “is this wall high enough” test that richard has decided on.  the sizing is pretty on target for all of the big box brands.  the liner seems pretty absorbent + soft when dry.  the price is a little spendy compared to the other two brands, but  i feel like the quality products are worth it.  plus they seem to be a new brand, and we’re all about giving new brands a fair shot!

richard votes these wipes as the strongest we’ve tested + they don’t smell like a little baby.  they’re not fragrance free, but they do have a light scent to them which should work out if she ends up with sensitive skin.  and this matters zero in the scheme of things, but the branding is also the best…just thought i’d add that in case anyone from parasol wants feedback on that little tidbit.

the bundle price for this little guys is $85 per month

includes (in the newborn size) : 264 diapers + 216 wipes + 40 wipes (2 travel packs)

have any of you had huge successes or fails with any of these brands?  or anyone have an “i was so prepared for x brand but my baby wanted y brand” story to share?  or anything else diaper + wipe related?  we know some folks find it silly that we’re posting + researching so much before she’s here, but it’s a really fun way for us to interact with our followers so it’s worth all the time!!

Liam started out in pampers, the wetness indicator was a life saver when he was itty bitty…When he got up to a size 3, I tried the target brand and haven’t found anything better since! I don’t mind paying a little more for diapers but I fell in love with them and haven’t looked back! Their prices are just a plus 👌🏻

You already know all this but I’ll say it here again…we use Pampers for Teagan and have never had any problems, she’s in a size 3 now in the cruisers. She sleeps in one all night, at least 10 hours, and we have no issues with leaks. We’ve tried other brands and for us nothing compared. As far as wipes go we like honest and pampers wipes. Huggies are a total pain, they always rip.

With my 2nd baby I use Pampers for sure – he has daily blow outs. With my first I could use toys r us brand. Oh the good ole days :). The biggest rip off – Huggies!

We tried just about every brand in the book when my little was a newborn (except Huggies). He is now 20 months old and we swear by Pampers.

We started out with Pampers preemies, which can be really hard to find in other brands. Then when he hit newborn we tried every one – some we got as gifts, others we purchased ourselves to test the waters. He had really sentitive skin, and every other brand irritated his bum. Some more than others. So we ended up right back where we started. Pampers.

For wipes, we are not as picking. When he was new and fresh we exclusively used pampers fragrance free. Now we use target store brand, pampers, honest, pretty much whatever we have or my husband grabs.

I don’t think it’s silly that you are researching at all. Have fun and be excited, you deserve to be! 🙂

We use Honest Co. over here for both of my littles (one has now moved on) but my little guy still uses them. He has the MOST sensitive skin ever and these diapers and wipes are perfect for him. I have been using this company for over 3 years and they have improved some things greatly in that time. Love the prints, the diapers are great, and the wipes are the best compared to anything else I have used. Haven’t ever used Parasol however. But just thought I would share our experience. Good luck!!!
